I like the dove symbolism the best, and it makes the most sense.
Otherwise, I have simply seen it as the RJK emblem and a visually interesting design. I try to forget AVP and its sequel. Just when erasure seems to have taken, someone mentions it and I must start the process over again. I consider it a good meditative exercise. I had not thougth of two ships colliding. In Episode III, it shows the symbol inside a larger design:
![]() (In this design, the symbol is sometimes on it's side) In the past I've used the design for graphic ideas on the forum. But take a closer look. To me it seems that there are rays shining from the symbol and it looks as if the rays are passing by worlds and through plants. It is likely a representation of the Force. (because life creates the Force and it is throughout the galaxy). What do you think? Jedi Master, Mi-Zhe Fu -------------------- "Remember, Luke, the suffering of one man is the suffering of all. Distances are irrelevant to injustice. If not stopped soon enough, evil eventually reaches out to engulf all men, whether they have opposed it or ignored it."-By George Lucas (from the original Star Wars Novel)

I looked into what Master Silmerion said and there is indeed a Tai-Chi story where a snake fights a crane.
![]() I also found this image: ![]() It is an ancient Chinese image. The Bird represents greed, the snake represents aggression, and the pig represents ignorance. It is a symbol of the things to avoid if you wish to find enlightenment. The symbol has some simlarities also to the Jedi Symbol. Personally I think Silmerion's interpretation of the bird and the snake is probably closer to the truth of how it was originally designed by the Star Wars artist. Master, I am simply amazed someone else actually understands the symbolism of the Chicken, Snake and Bird. But it's actually Indian, coming from Buddhism, and the meanings are slightly different. Buddhism has "sins," although the Christian idea of sin is simply alien and uncouth to most Buddhists, and it is manifested in the ideas of the Three Poisons. Those are, Fear, Desire and Indifference, otherwise known as Attatchment, Aversion and Ignorance. Those three poisons are not so much a bad thing to do as they are what causes suffering in life, because we are trapped in an endless cycle of the three. The Chicken is Attatchment or Desire, the Snake is Aversion or Fear, which leads to anger and hatred, and the Pig is Ignorance, or Indifference. This is a piece of art for sale that should help anyone here understand the Bhavachakra, the ancient Indian symbolism of the wheel of life in Buddhism. so buddas created it all yes but what about the snake and the crane fighting is that meant to be about agression or something if we ever have a temple we should hang these up on the wall.

In some tradition the fight between the crane and the snake is the dream/vision that inspired the creation of Tai-Chi Chuan:

"An unwise Jedi might consider the Force a tool, a means to his own ends. But a true Jedi understands that the Force is a partner on a concurrent course, a common pathway to true harmony and understanding." "Luminous Beings we are, not this crude matter."
