Here at RJK, we have different codes of morals that we all follow. There's the standard Jedi Code, which can be found on the main website. Different cultures have their own morals, and individuals each have their own.

One code that I've strived to follow is the Code of Chivalry. It's consists of 10 rules, dealing with how one interacts with God and his fellow man. The individual laws themselves were known to the knight's of Medieval Europe, however it was only in the last century or so of the Medieval Ages that they were made into a standard code.

I) Thou shalt believe all that the Church teaches, and shalt observe all its directions.
II) Thou shalt defend the Church.
III) Thou shalt respect all weaknesses and shalt constitute thyself the defender of them.
IV) Thou shalt love the country in which thou wast born.
V) Thou shalt not recoil before thine enemy.
VI) Thou shalt make war against the infidel without cessation and without mercy.
VII) Thou shalt perform scrupulously thy feudal duties, if they be not contrary to the laws of God.
VIII) Thou shalt never lie, and shalt remain faithful to thy pledged word.
IX) Thou shalt be generous, and give largess to everyone.
X) Thou shalt be everywhere and always the champion of the Right and the Good against Injustice and Evil.

I feel I should mention that in the sixth rule, infidel is not a direct mention to Muslims, but to all true evil, by which I mean those who have wish or desire do or be good. While not strictly in the Jedi philosophy, in Christianity, yeah, it is. It's called Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. It is the sin of rejecting God for all that he is; the Truth, Justice, Peace, and Love. It is the only unforgivable sin, because those who have made it are intelligent beings who have made the choice, and refuse to change their mind. Thus, it is not unforgivable because of a lack of Mercy on God's part, but a large supply of pride or fear on there part.

By technical definition, the infidel was any non-Christian. The term does not denote any particular religion, but anyone outside of the religion of those applying the term to others.

In the original context, the word certainly did not apply directly to Muslims or any other specific group, nor did it have the more broad, spiritual connotation that you apply, though certainly, that is the most appropriate way to apply it in the modern era.

Another consideration is that the chivalric code was created to address specific problems pertaining to knights and nobility. Mainly that they were so intent upon fighting against each other that something had to be done to redirect their energy. Thus, warlords became the defenders of the weak, who were caught in the middle of warring nobles and their knights. Churches and religious facilities were to be defended rather than pillaged, and the country was to be defended, a task made much easier if the knights and nobles were not infighting.

In all, the chivalric code was quite ingenious for the time period and to a great extent, ushered in a new era. Certainly, the essential spirit of the code (defense against that which is evil, upholding that which is good, defending the weak, generosity and piety) can be applied today. Aspects of it can certainly be applied by non religious individuals.

1)
To believe what someone teaches you and not to question it can lead to blindness.

2)

To make war against someone with mercy is not the best way to make war... remember that an enemy of the past can be a ally after time

The Code of Chilvalry was written in a different historical period so some of it may sound strange or too harsh to us.

As for questioning teachings, we can do it for the rational teachings, but if we question Faith, we may limit ourselves, as Luke was limiting himself by questioning Yoda's teachings and his own Faith in the Force.
The Force can really allow us to do incredible things, but we should be convinced of it, not put limit to what we can do.

May the Force guide you

So you mean that not having faith can be like a flower having no sunlight, withering to dust?

When a flower doesnt have sunlight, before it withers and turns to dust, it searches for sunlight.

for you to night have faith you will become powerless...

You should have faith in yourself at least.. Or you will never try your best and fail in the future because you set yourself up for that.

My faith is in myself, to know I will do what ever it takes to keep myself going, but my other faiths are dead. I dont do leap of faiths but what I do is what I feel I should do and need to do. So if Iwas gonna jump but I didnt think I could make it, I would calculate why I need to make my jump and force myself to make it if necesary, even if I think I might not make it I will give it my all and that leap of faith will happen.

But faith changes as one grows and learns new things everyday. You chose your own path, don't have someone else tell you what you faith is. For it is yours.

I think I rambled a lot in this one so if you dont understand just ask and tell me what you dont understand and I will try to clarify better.

What I meant is Yoda's teaching to Luke: Luke failed in taking his X-Wing off the water because he didn't believe the Force could do it, or that he could do it with the Force.
This is also why Yoda says that there is no try, when we do something, we are convinced we can manage it, while when we try, our energy is less powerful, we doubt, and this doubt makes us fail.
I experienced it for Force Healing, even when you are in pain, if you are convinced that the Force can heal anything, the pain often disappears.
Our intentions, thoughts, emotions are really essential because they influence the Force.

In the Gospel, it is interesting to notice that when Jesus heals someone, He usually says "Your Faith has saved you"...

May the Force guide you

Thank you for your wise words, Master.

Trayan, that reminds me of some famous star wars quotes biggrin.gif

Vader: I find your lack of faith disturbing.

Solo: *Flying through asteroids with a very pessimistic C3P0* Never tell me the odds.
